• Join us for a special author visit with Sara Fajardo, author of A Tanta Wawa for Abuelito, a tender story about family, remembrance, and Día de los Muertos in the Peruvian Andes. Sara will share her book and introduce us to some of the traditions that inspired Tortolito’s story, including how Andean celebrations differ from the Día de los Muertos traditions more commonly associated with Mexico.
• Then, design your own tanta wawa! These traditional Andean breads come in many shapes and styles, and Sara will share examples from different regions before children create and decorate their own paper versions. We’ll also talk about the many ways families remember and honor loved ones, and Sara will bring a special treat to share: homemade tanta wawa bread!
Ages 5-9. Registration required. Register children only, adults are welcome to attend with their child.
